Dr. Alisa Henrie
Alisa joined the KTECH team in the fall of 2017 helping teach labs for the Mechatronics class and continues to enjoy teaching and curriculum development as needed as the KTECH program expands its offered classes.
Alisa's background is in mechanical engineering. She was a senior design engineer for the Boeing company in Seattle working mostly on the 747 but was privileged to work special projects in materials and safety across all of the Boeing planes. She returned to Brigham Young University (BYU) and obtained her PhD in 2004 in Mechanical Engineering. She then taught Physics at the University of New Mexico in Los Alamos. She was also involved in developing special Associates degrees at UNM to help technicians at Los Alamos National Laboratory obtain degrees applicable to their daily work and obtain advancement and financial security. Alisa moved to Alabama in 2006 and has been supporting science activities in the local school systems as a volunteer.
Alisa loves to teach and her favorite teaching moments are when previously difficult concepts become easy for her students. She also believes learning should be fun and strives to make all topics approachable, memorable and enjoyable. In her spare time Alisa likes to feed people, participate in triathlons and play the cello. Alisa is also an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
