Madison, AL – Kids to Love made history in the Huntsville/Madison County business community on August 30th as the inaugural winner of the Chamber of Commerce Women-Owned Business of the Year award.
Kids to Love competed among nearly 40 other women-owned businesses, and was one of only two non-profit organizations among the contenders.
“Our business is unlike any business in that category because our clients are children in foster care,” said Kids to Love Founder/ CEO Lee Marshall in her acceptance speech. “We work every day to meet the immediate needs of children in foster care.”
Kids to Love incorporated in 2004, and since then has impacted the lives of 200,000 foster children.
Kids to Love operates more than a dozen programs, including Davidson Farms, a home for girls which will open in 2017. Marshall highlighted Davidson Farms in her speech, challenging the community to be involved as the Kids to Love team prepares the house to become a home for foster girls in our community.
The Women-Owned Business category was one of two nominations for Kids to Love. Kids to Love was also nominated in the Non-Profit of the Year category.
