Friends Deck the Halls at Davidson Farms

This is bound to be one of the most memorable Christmas seasons ever for the girls who call Davidson Farms home. Thanks in no small part to the help of Lori Willis and her friends — a trio who showed up this week to festoon the farm with Christmas sparkle.

“I hope they walk in and they smile and it makes them happy — where they see some decorations and Christmas lights and feel loved and at home and I hope that they can pass that on,” said Willis, who has a penchant for decorating and loves Christmas decor.

Everyone was enthusiastic, which is why Lori and her team of elves – Monica Covington and Vickye Storey – devoted their time and talent to ‘deck the halls.’ Neither of the women had ever visited the farm. After a thorough tour, the ladies heard its history and learned the farm reached capacity after taking in its seventh girl earlier this month. The team of elves quickly developed a plan and got to work. The volunteers unloaded two trunks filled with ornaments, ribbons, trees, garlands and lights. The plan included placing a Christmas tree in two common areas – the kitchen and a living room – as well as the girls’ bedrooms giving them their own special tree. As Christmas music blared from a Bluetooth speaker, the ladies unboxed, fluffed and beautifully crafted each tree with the girls in mind.

Just a few days later, Matt Seikel of Redline Services Outdoor Lighting Solutions showed up to take care of the outside of the home. Matt braved the roof, the wind, the rain and the cold to masterfully clip each LED bulb to the rooftop. He created a gingerbread-worthy dream and a holiday glow the Davidson Farms girls will be greeted with each evening this month.
