Huntsville Goes Over The Edge For Foster Kids

Kids to Love and Over The Edge have once again taken fundraising to new heights with Over The Edge - Huntsville. In its second year, the urban rappelling event doubled in participants—with more than 100 people—and soared passed our goal of $100,000 by 48%.

Business owners, a state official and Huntsville City influencers were among those who took the pledge to fundraise and rappel down the towering Regions Center in downtown Huntsville, Alabama on September 20th and 21st. In addition, we introduced a new concept, the Chick-N-Coop, for those who wanted to aid in fundraising but feared rappelling the 160 foot building. Not only were ‘chickens’ able to collect donations, but their designated slot was transferred to a child in foster care.

The two-day event began with a VIP/Media Drop Party on Friday evening, which featured Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall, WDRM’s Tige & Daniel and The River’s Erich West. The evening was followed by an exclusive night gathering on the penthouse floor of the Regions Center. The event featured tasty finger-foods by I Love Bacon, refreshing beverages by Straight to Ale, The Wine Cellar and TOC , and a breathtaking view overlooking the ‘Star of Alabama.’ Our CEO & Founder, Lee Marshall, served as the emcee throughout the night highlighting the Foundations’ success throughout its 15 years and presenting teams and sponsors with tokens of appreciation.

The corner of Church and Clinton Street buzzed with excitement Saturday as hundreds of family members and spectators gathered to support their favorite rappeller. The morning kicked off with Marshall and Creative Director, David Wood, followed by Madison Mayor Paul Finley. Teams and individuals donned outfits ranging from superhero costumes to personalized shirts and jerseys. Flyers and even big heads were waved as rapellers descended.

Kids to Love would like to thank the following who have made this year’s Over The Edge - Huntsville a success and for going sky high for kids in foster care: HighTower Twickenham, Colliers International Alabama, Regions Bank, Turner MidSouth, Stand Up Live Huntsville, iHeart Media, Sound Source Productions, Straight to Ale Brewing, Alabama Media Group, TOC Orthopaedic Center, I Love Bacon Truck, Honest Coffee Roasters - Huntsville, Homewood Suites Huntsville Downtown and The Wine Cellar
